Summary
:
"During the construction of the viaduct, different sensors (clinometers, extensometers, anemometers, thermometers, etc.) were installed in order to control the construction processes. Once the bridge was completed most of the equipment remained to be used in the monitoring of the structural behavior in service. Some accelerometers were added to verify the correct response under wind and traffic actions. Temperatures in the cross-section are recorded to characterize the thermal action in a structure of these dimensions. During construction, the number of sensors (all static) was 131. The static and dynamic system operating once the bridge was open to traffic integrates 72 sensors. It regularly records the different parameters, by automatic reading. All records are kept in a real-time internet-accessible database for direct use. The dynamic system works by automatic captures when wind speed or acceleration exceeds certain thresholds."
