Term	Meaning
Action	a) set of forces (loads) applied to the structure (direct action); b) set of imposed deformations or accelerations caused, for example, by temperature changes, moisture variation, uneven settlement or earthquake (indirect action); c) climatic loads (wind, snow, temperature) and other (physical and chemical) environmental exposures (CO2, chlorides, sulphates etc.) (environmental actions).
